Job Title-

Research Librarian with Herbert Smith Freehills

Location-

Knowledge and Research Centre- Macquarie Park, Sydney

Employment Type-

Six Month term - 8am -6pm each day

Qualification-

Tertiary qualification in librarianship or equivalent

Skills required

  • Experience presenting legal research training programs
  • An understanding of the legislative process and legal concepts
  • Thorough understanding of legal research methodologies
  • Experience with an automated library system
  • Exposure to online resources for legal and business research
  • Service orientated
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge management initiatives
  • Provide feedback
  • Good written communication skills

Duties-

  • Provide both simple and complex reference services to internal clients using print and electronic resources.
  • Assist users to develop their own research strategies
  • Conduct complex research tasks
  • Classify and catalogue new material as required.
  • Assist in the evaluation of electronic products
  • Provide feedback regarding services and subscriptions
  • Set up current awareness services to users
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of induction programs
  • Implement knowledge management initiatives
  • Provide feedback and recommendations based in usage trends
